The rule as to married quarters is given in the first of the annexed Conditions of Service in the Hong Kong Police Force:
"No married man will be enlisted into married quarters until after he has attained the rank of Sergeant."
There is nothing to prevent a man from taking his wife out (and passage would even be provided for her) if he were willing to pay house rent himself until he becomes a Sergeant; but as
